Encore with Opti-Fingering™ Debuts at NAMM
New add on application, Opti-Fingering™ available with the latest Encore update for Windows
Encore 5.0.3 with Opti-Fingering
We are pleased to announce the release of the latest update for Encore
for Windows now with Opti-Fingering™, Encore 5.0.3, build 746
The Opti-Fingering™ add-on program is for a variety of stringed instruments: guitar - standard tuning, guitar - open G tuning, bass, double bass, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, banjo, ukulele.
Opti-Fingering™ generates optimal fingering for a variety of stringed instruments. This application has three major components:
A Fingering Library that analyzes a musical composition and computes optimal fingering for a selected instrument.
A fingerboard display that shows a picture of the selected instrument's fingerboard and, using the output of the Fingering Library, shows what fingers to use and where to place them in order to play each stroke in the musical composition.
Encore music notation software that allows songs to be entered, imported via a Music XML file, and edited. When you want to see how to play the song, you can select the desired instrument and play the song.
The Fingering Library is called to compute the fingering and the fingerboard display shows how to play each note or chord as you step through the song.

Release Notes Encore 5.0.3.746:
Fixed:
Scores with sub-minimal dimensions now open visible.
Scores with multiple repeats, or repeats with more than 2 endings, playback as expected
Improved Drum map dialog design (renamed to Percussion staff setup), for better understanding of purpose of controls.
Improved method to validate data entry for fields to indicate a range (to delete measures or pages).
Added a light-gray background to the active lyrics text box, as a provisional replacement of the missing caret.
Made the cursor change to a cross hair when hovering over a score while the Text or Lyrics tool (in Graphics palette) is active.
A score with (illegal!) zero tempo value will no longer cause Encore to crash.
Added check box to Page Setup dialog, which enables user to choose if adaptation of dimensions and orientation to printer possibilities should be performed. Default is 'not checked', thus the page settings will only be changed if the user checks the box.
The program no longer saves the number of copies printed.
Cross-platform page set up
Corrected control group in 'Note attributes' dialog
Show/Hide dialog overhauled
Chord slurs
When page width or margin width is changed, notation will be re-spaced proportionally
